2024 Yarra Valley Chardonnay
Single Vineyard | Low Extraction
ABV: 13.2% | pH: 3.7 | TA: 5.5 g/L | Yeast: Wild | Clone: P58 | Vine Age: 20 years
Appearance
Pale straw with a slight golden hue, reflecting both vineyard maturity and restrained winemaking.
Aroma
Subtle and refined, the nose offers white peach, nectarine, and citrus blossom layered with gentle notes of hazelnut, flint, and struck match from wild fermentation. Hints of oatmeal and fresh cream sit in the background, a nod to the vineyard’s age and natural complexity.
Palate
Elegant and finely textured thanks to low extraction, allowing purity of fruit to shine. Stone fruit and lemon curd interplay with savoury, mealy nuances and a touch of saline minerality. Acidity is soft yet persistent (pH 3.7, TA 5.5), giving balance without sharpness. Oak influence is subtle, supporting rather than dominating, with wild ferment characters adding depth and length.
Finish
Long and graceful, with lingering notes of citrus zest, nougat, and a delicate smoky edge.
Style & Cellaring
A modern, restrained Yarra Chardonnay — fresh, textural, and site-driven. Drinking beautifully in its youth, but will reward 5–7 years of careful cellaring as nutty and toasty characters emerge.
